What's a Charity?

A charitable organization, or Charity is an organization whose primary objectives are philanthropy and social well-being (e.g. educational, religious or other activities serving the public interest or common good.
Note that the exact definition differs in different nations.

Charity vs Non-profit

A charity is a type of not-for-profit organisation, however the main difference between a nonprofit and a charity is that a nonprofit doesn't need to reach a 'charitable status' whereas a charity, to qualify as a charity, needs to meet very specific or strict guidelines. In short, Charities often fund outside programs, while Non-Profits can simpy be self-sustainable.
