Swedish Anti-Theft Association breaks new ground using blockchain certificates

In 2021, SSF launched a new way to verify their diplomas and certificates. The purpose being to increase the security and value of these official documents. Safety in the workplace is becoming increasingly important for all organizations, and this definitely applies recruitment and the vetting of new employees.

For more than 50 years, the Swedish organisation Stöldskyddsföreningen (SSF) has conducted security education that provides practical tools for individuals to create a safe and secure workplace. From now on, participants will get modern, digital proofs of their education at SSF. The diploma is secured using a blockchain method offered by TRUE.  Blockchain and it’s decentralized technology makes it near impossible to manipulate these new digital documents.

TRUE allows recipients of the diplomas to post them on social networks such as LinkedIn, linking it to the original document which can be verified as authentic. SSF’s first training to utilize the technology was for those who completed the training as Certified Security Manager, an important group of Managers who needs to be able to strengthen and showcase their security competence. Through TRUE and SSF, these Security Managers are now among the first in the nation who can verifiably prove that they have completed a training as Certified Security Manager at the SSF Anti-Theft Association.

The fast-paced development in digitalisation in recent years, has meant that organisations has had to adapt to new conditions. For example, the proportion of individuals working and studying from home has increased rapidly, and our society has been forced to adapt to this new trend. With this in mind, SSF began a digital investment in order to offer quality online education.

-“We now offer extensive trainings in Security to our customers, both physically and digitally. However, the transition to online, place a high demand on digital safety. It is particularly important for us to be able to ensure that our Proofs of Education, in the form of Certificates and Diplomas, are correct and secure”, explains Maria Dahlstedt, Program Manager for Security Trainings at SSF.
